The HUC Matching Seed Fund is an initiative of the Hemispheric University Consortium (HUC) aimed at promoting academic cooperation and supporting studies with social, economic, and scientific impact in Latin America.

In a context where scientific and social challenges are becoming increasingly complex, the Seed Fund seeks to support innovative projects that address issues of social, economic, and scientific relevance. Through this call, HUC promotes interdisciplinary research, the active involvement of students, and the strengthening of research capacities, with a particular focus on developing scalable initiatives that can later access larger sources of external funding.

Objective of the HUC Seed Fund

The objective of this call is to foster collaborative research among universities that are members of the HUC network, encouraging the creation of academic partnerships that generate knowledge relevant to society. In addition, the Fund seeks to support projects with growth potential that may subsequently apply for national and international competitive funding of greater scale.

Priority Thematic Areas

The call is open to all areas of knowledge, provided that projects align with the thematic priorities defined by HUC:

  1. Public Health, Well-being, and Human Prosperity
  2. Climate Change, Sustainability, and Resilience
  3. Entrepreneurship, Inclusive Innovation, and Digital Transformation
  4. Society, Institutional Quality, and Corruption
  5. Technology and Innovation for Education

The HUC Seed Fund represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen regional and international academic cooperation, foster new lines of research, and contribute—through the university sector—to the development of innovative solutions to current global and regional challenges.
