HOW TO NEGOTIATE THE DIGITAL COLLECTION SUBSCRIPTION ON HEALTH SCIENCES? – THE UNIVERSIDAD PERUANA CAYETANO HEREDIA EXPERIENCE
OBJECTIVE
Share the experience developed by the Faculty of Medicine and the UPCH Library Office in the negotiation process to subscribe to digital collections.
DESCRIPTION
Managing electronic resources requires skills and tools to successfully complete a perpetuity or subscription purchase negotiation. This process has become a substantial necessity for university libraries, it implies using various criteria for decision-making to subscribe new resources, give continuity or cancel a subscription in health sciences. These scopes have a certain level of complexity that ranges from analyzing the resource, identifying its advantages and functionalities, addressing with the provider the flexibility regarding accessibility to the resource’s contents, the number of licenses, guaranteeing technical support.
The institutional strategy, the actions developed and a summary of the main lessons learned from this process will be presented during the seminar. This activity will be in charge of Dr. Enrique Castañeda Saldaña, Rector of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia.

This webinar is 100% virtual and is intended for library staff, directors, collection development staff, and information professionals interested in developing digital collections.
