Open Science Movement: The important role of the library System in its promotion
OBJECTIVE
Share the experience of the Library System in the development of the open science movement, its relevant role, and its commitment as a promoter and facilitator in the progress and consolidation of Open Science in the institution.
DESCRIPTION
The encouragement of the open science movement at Universidad Andrés Bello is a strategic line of the Library System Development; in this way, it promotes the culture of Open Science, disseminating its concepts, principles, and practices among teachers, students, researchers, as well as the university community in general. Some of the advances that are already available are the Research Data Repository, the “Guide for the Elaboration of the Research Data Management Plan, ” the “Declaration of Principles on Open Science of the UNAB Library System,” the UNAB Journals Portal, among others.

Claudia Catalán Hernández
General Director of the Library System Andrés Bello University (UNAB)
General Director of the Library System of Universidad Andrés Bello with more than 22 years in the institution; she has extensive experience in the management and administration of university libraries, leader of the ISO 9001 certification processes obtained for more than 10 years by the UNAB Library. She is certified as an internal auditor by ANECA. Also, she is a documentary librarian with a master’s in human resources and knowledge management and a diploma in Management for Digital Transformation.
Alexandra Espinoza
Librarian, Leader of the Open Science Committee Andrés Bello University (UNAB)
Leader of the Open Science Committee and information management of the UNAB Library System; she has extensive experience designing and delivering workshops such as Tools for Research Support and Strategies for Academic Writing. She is a professor in Spanish and Communication and Librarian with a specialization in Information Units, a Master’s in Hispanic Literature, and a Ph.D. student in Latin American Literature, currently studying for the Diploma in Scientific Research and Open Knowledge Generation.
